Changes to/in Worksafe BC

During the recent changes that have been implemented by the current Gordon Campbell government the Worksafe BC offices are finding that their departments are being reorganized. They will no longer be in the Medic First Aid certification business but will, in fact, become a regulatory body only.

All of the first aid training, which amounts to some 90,000 certifications per annum, will be handed over to the public sector. In this light, EMP Canada appears at this moment to be petitioned well to assume much of the training.

In particular our 76 Hour Advanced Program is being reviewed as an equivalency to the Workplace Level 3. This of course will help us greatly. We already have recognition as an equivalency course for our EMP Canada Medic First Aid Work Place Level 1, as well as having an equivalency recognition for our Automated External Defibrillator program.

Further our Oxygen Supplement program has also been recognized by the Worksafe BC and our 76 Hour Advanced program has received recognition through the province of Alberta and the North Territories, as well as Health Canada, Labour Canada, provinces of Ontario, and Manitoba. Whereas the Worksafe Level 3 has been rejected.
