FIRST AID VIDEOS GET SPECIFIC
Have you ever had a request for more detailed first aid training for heart attacks,
strokes, or allergic reactions? Do you train in areas where workers are at a higher than normal risk for hypothermia, snake bites or specific types of injury such as amputations or burnsZ With the release of the MEDIC FIRST AID@ Specific
First Aid Topic Series, you will have no problem meeting those requests.
Divided into two topic categories - Illness and Injury - the new, series of 21 supplementary video programs easily integrate into the MEDIC FIRST AID@ Basic Version 5 training system. To use, simply show the videos within the managing specific first aid topics segment in each program.
Instructors have the option of selecting topics specific to their needs. For example, clients in cold weather locations might benefit from the "Exposure to Cold" program, which details basic treatment options for hypothermia and frostbite.
The Injury Programs - which include topics on amputations and impalements are an ideal fit for industrial work sites, where heavy machinery increases the risk of those types of injuries.
Each program can stand alone, for use in safety meetings, for personal use, or in situations where someone or some group wishes to learn more detailed information about a particular subject. For an untrained person, all programs come with an optional standardized introduction which highlights the fundamental aspects of emergency care, pointing students toward basic training if they have not already had it.
The videos run under ten minutes, and follow a fairly uniform structure. Real time scenarios or multiple topic vignettes set in numerous industrial, office and sitespecific locations are followed by bulleted instructions on how to conduct a patient history and assessment. Specific care instructions in contextual settings follow, and additional considerations round out each program.
Programs covering physical assessment and patient history, asthma, bites and stings, strokes, heart attacks, seizures and allergic reactions are now available, with many more on the way over the coming months. NEW LOOK TO THE EMP CANADA WEBSITE
The improved look of the company website is designed to enrich and simplify the online customer experience. It is also designed to provide a greater depth of with respect to our training Centres needs and requirements. As
an example, we now have a listing of our Training Centres all across Canada in an alphabetical and provincial alignment. This will facilitate students who go online looking for training enabling them to locate an EMP Canada Centre that is close to their location.
Our hope is over the next few months to hotlink as many as possible of our Training Centres so that a student seeking training will not have to leave the site but can go directly to the closest Training Centre for more information. There are also specific areas on the website that will assist our members to locate and become better informed on products that we have available. In addition, they can go to sections of the site that relate to insurance in particular for Training Centres, instructors and Occupational FirstAid Attendants.
In this regard, our instructor insurance has now been expanded to include not only our EMP Canada instructors but those that have been trained by theWorker Compensation Board
of British Columbia. Further, the Training Centre insurance that we now have available at a base price that is extremely viable when compared to the charges presently being experienced in the regular market.
